Students love working in this Vocabulary Journal, by Lil’ Reading Scientists Literacy Solutions TM! As they learn new vocabulary related to ELA, or in other subjects of school, students make entries on one of the five vocabulary forms. The forms progress in difficulty, covering concepts such as definitions, parts of speech, the 6 syllable types, and syllable division rules.
This Vocabulary Journal can be used with the words in the Lil’ Reading Scientists TM Scope and Sequence, Levels 2-16, or with social studies and science words from the regular classroom curriculum. Teachers can identify words that students may not know, and use those words as target words for the Vocabulary Journal. Teachers print multiple copies of the desired form to create the journal.
The Vocabulary Journal also provides students with opportunities to practice their standard and invented spelling skills, writing skills, punctuation, and handwriting, through the sentence writing task on each form.
The Vocabulary Journals are decorated with the Lil’ Reading Scientists’ characters: Dan: the Reading Scientist, and his dog Buddy, and his cat, Lucy.
